Steg’s Bedroom
The film set for my ongoing series “A Life of Steg”, in particular the episode “Maybe One Day We’ll Look Back At This And Find It Funny”. The film takes place in the bedroom of my auto-biographical dinosaur character, Steg. The bedroom references my childhood room in its colourful, cartoonish warmth, but is reimagined to represent the anxieties and feelings of loneliness and inadequacy that have come along with growing up. This disparity is representative of what my bedroom became during a difficult time I had last summer, where self-imposed confinement led to the bedroom changing from a place of creative solitude to a place that constantly and unavoidebly reminded me that I wasn’t handling any of this very well.
